Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Sunbeam, 91640, 99 Minute, 59 Second Digital Count up/Count Down Timer, White/GreyCustomer Review: A very good digital timer Summary: 5 Stars
The digital entry format is very quick and convenient. The keys are crisp and easy to use and the audio feedback and the alarm are loud and easy to hear.
Customer Review: Best Timer for the $ Summary: 5 Stars
I use timers CONSTANTLY for my work and personal matters for many years. I have used MANY timers and have much experience with evaluating them -pros and cons.
Hands down, this is the BEST TIMER FOR THE $!!
Put aside the trivial con of having to enter a '0' for times less than 10 minutes. Everything else about the timer is all 'PROs.' The balance of the timer features is FOOLPROOF and MEGA USER FRIENDLY. It's on all the time, so it's always ready to go - and always telling you what time you have on the timer. No having to fool with on/off switches. Battery drain for LED is so low it doesn't matter- the battery will still last for years (depending on how frequent and long you let the timer sound off). Entering times is such a breeze - I've saved hours during my lifetime not having to push and "up/down" button to adjust the time - instead you just punch in the discrete specific time you want!! I love it! I have about three of them in the home/office and plan to buy more for backups. Future improvements could include a 'count up' timer for after the timer sounds and is not manually shut off - this would tell you how much time passed after the alarm sounded. Additionally, if they included a 24 hour timespan that would be useful for some people. However the 99 minute works for all my needs.
My only lament is that the brilliant engineers and businesspeople who crafted this timer don't provide products / services to solve my other nemeses like Windows OS, national health care, government, etc. Thank you for reading.
Customer Review: Button functions are too awkward, plus other design flaws. Summary: 1 Stars
Unlike 99.9% of other timers out there, this timer starts at the "ten" digit number first and then works it's way down to the single "seconds" digit (most other timers do just the opposite, and start at the "seconds" digit first and are pushed upwards). The irritating thing about this is that anything under 10 minutes must first have the "0" button pushed once, and anything that is under 1 minute needs to first have the "0" pressed twice. For example, a 9 minute time is entered by pressing 0--9, and a 50 second time is entered by pressing 0--0--5.
It's not a big deal, but often very irritation when you have to actually stop and think about how this timer is different than every other timer you have ever owned. Pressing a "0" one or two times before you even start to enter the actual time is just plain awkward, and I often have to hit "clear" and re-enter it the correct way. Zero's should be pressed last, not first. Who thinks about pressing zero's first?? It just sounds like they had too many engineers in the kitchen, and they over-thought something that was perfectly fine to begin with.
Also, the printed numbers on the buttons are very tiny as well, and not easily read. And the magnet stand design makes this a "see-saw" when on the refrigerator.
Customer Review: Decent for the price - some annoyances Summary: 3 Stars
The timer is easy to use, once you get the hang of setting the time (if you only want seconds, you need to input 00 first to get past the minutes). The alarm is loud and fairly piercing, so it won't be ignored even if you're a couple of rooms away. Two things I wish were better on it - a more powerful magnet so it didn't move so easy on the the metal, and a change to the "stand" mechanism built into the clip. It falls into place every time you remove the timer from whatever the magnet is holding on to, and then you've got to put it back before using the magnet again.
Customer Review: Easy and practical Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this for my daughter as a timer to manage her piano practice. It's very easy to use, with big letters and loud beeps. Only problem is the support leg can not adjust its angle when this timer is on standing postition.
