Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Sunbeam, 91640, 99 Minute, 59 Second Digital Count up/Count Down Timer, White/GreyCustomer Review: No 'off' button Summary: 2 Stars
This timer is inexpensive and simple to use. However, there is no 'off' button, so the display is always on and therefore draining the batteries. I probably wouldn't buy it again.
Customer Review: Not rocket science Summary: 4 Stars
I like this. It's easy to use. The alarm is a wee bit loud but that's good actually if you're not in the vicinity of the timer and need to know when the time's up. One reviewer correctly wrote that when you try to turn it off or on, it flies off whatever it's magnetized to. So, I just lift it off the fridge and set it or reset it. No problem there. For the money it's just what I wanted.
UPDATE - 3/2010
The problem of the timer flying off the fridge (or wherever you might have it) really got to me. No matter how careful I was, the damn thing kept flying and falling until it finally broke. But I really liked this timer, so I bought another one and made a little "enhancement". I took the metal stand in the back off so that the timer, (in the back) was practically flat. Then I took two or three small round magnets, crazy glued them to the back of the timer, and VOILA! I have the perfect timer - does what it's supposed to and never flies off the fridge. Now it only takes one hand to program it instead of two and it stays in place. WHY didn't the company think of this - it's much better this way.
Customer Review: Overall a very nice timer Summary: 5 Stars
No real problems with it.
It beeps loudly, you can set minutes and seconds and it's one of the cheapest timers around.
However, the only con is that it doesn't turn off, but that isn't such a big problem to me.
Customer Review: Peforms v well, user friendly, loud, big display, but quite large Summary: 3 Stars
which makes it impossible to clip onto clothing-and clip is useless
5 star if you dont need this function
Customer Review: Reasonable price---does what it should Summary: 3 Stars
I noticed some of the reviewers of this item said they would have liked a Power switch. One even went so far as removing the battery. I have a similar item which has lasted over ten years with the original battery---never turned off. So the lack of a power switch is not a problem.
My only suggestion is a STOP switch on the top of the unit so you could simply hit it without pushing a button....something like a SNOOZE function on a clock.
