I understand that this timer didn't work well for the previous reviewer, but I have used this timer for about 3 years and love it. Granted, I don't leave it in the kitchen and then walk far away from it (so I've never had a problem with the volume). Instead, I bring it with me around the house (the clip on the back of it works well). I also bring it out with me (down the street to do laundry) and haven't had a problem with it switching itself on or off (or going off) when I didn't want it to). I also use it to take naps during the day & it's loud enough to wake me up (I've even used it as a replacement alarm clock in a pinch and it works after a whole night of sleeping). I also use it for cooking all the time & I really love it. (And it's SO much better than an old fashioned ticking kitchen timer, since it doesn't tick). I have two electric digital timers (the other is a pyrex that beeps 20 minutes before it's going to go off--I prefer this one because I don't always want warning, I just want to know when the soup or laundry or whatever is done). Anyway, I came back to this page so I could buy another one to leave at my mom's so I don't have to listen to her ticking timer anymore.
